With us in the swing of our busy season, I’ve been unable to write as much as i’d like, but this one, I just couldn’t let sit.
One of my favorite new clients. Actually, his wife, who I’ve been chatting with. Great lady, completely on it. Wants the credit improved so they can basically save money on interest. She uploads his responses.. They are great results, which I will post below. I am specifically interested in the P&P Collection account. This thing right here:
So, there it is. This is the original credit report. Dated beginning of January. We always encourage folks, prior to paying on any accounts, allow us to request those accounts be verified to ensure they’re reporting accurately and with in the Statute. So, we do our thing. Request the above account be verified.
Well, about a month later, our lovely client begins receiving responses from the bureaus. The results appear to be positive. Specific to the above account, it appears to be ‘unverifiable’ and is removed. Not from one, or two, but all three bureaus, in the first round.
And finally Equifax’s Deletion:
So, great results right? The bureaus have failed to verify the account. A three bureau deletion. Splendid!
However, despite the bureaus, determining the collection account is not reporting accurately in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the original creditor, our friends over at Merchants & Professional Collection Bureau, INC issued this response to the client, a week later:
Now notice how below, they are offering to delete the account. Many collection agencies will NOT honor a payment for deletion. So, be mindful of this. However, the point is, this is why we like to verify the information on the credit report prior to paying anything. It is not unlike making any payment you aren’t certain of. Let’s make certain it’s an accurately reporting account. Then, if we need to, or want to pay it, great, we can walk you through the process.
The real question is… who’s right? My guess is, the bureaus deleted it entirely from the report for good reason. It’s not verifiable. I certainly do not expect the collection agency to admit that. I promise you, if our client called them, they’d be happy to take the payment. But at the end of the day, it appears not to be accurate, and was removed.
Reason # 85473 we cannot make promises. Still though, I am satisfied with the results.
